We launched the business in the USA 2 years ago and are now in over 10,000 stores in the US, including 6500+ CVS stores with direct-to-consumer commerce servicing every state. We are unashamedly ambitious and are on our way to building a truly game-changing global brand.

People are drinking less soda than ever before. In its place, sparkling water provides all the ice-cold-can refreshment of a carbonated soft drink, but with none of the sugars, sweeteners or artificial ingredients. In the USA, sales of sparkling water have grown by over 50% over the last 5 years and we are leading the charge in the UK.

What is the role?

Ugly Drinks is seeking a full-time, Global Director of E-Commerce to be responsible for leading the growth of and team behind uglydrinks.com (US and UK) and our digital marketplace business (including Amazon). The role will be responsible for growing revenue, delivering an amazing customer experience, building the brand and acquiring new customers. This includes managing strategic planning, digital product development and using analytics for the e-commerce channels.

This role is a leadership position, reporting into the President — US with a dotted-line to the CEO/Founder. The successful candidate will have a mastery of e-commerce, have demonstrated success delivering features, functionality and integrations that improve conversion rate and lifetime value, and work excellently across functions and with vendors.

The candidate must have strong leadership and communication skills, hunger to learn, amazing attention to detail and organisational skills as well as passion by the bucket load.

You must be a self-starter who loves getting stuck in, figuring out problems and taking responsibility. Ugly is set up for rapid growth and we are looking for someone who can inspire and bring energy to the market.

Responsibility:

  • Define, own and deliver the vision for uglydrinks.com with a customer-first approach focused on discovery, ease of use and consumer experience.
  • Create and execute the strategic plan to deliver revenue goals and customer growth.
  • Own and manage Ugly’s DTC tech stack with our agency partners.
  • Work alongside our Global Head of Brand, and Global Operations team to execute Ugly’s Limited Edition program.
  • Work with our Ugly operations team on forecasting, customer management and customer experience/service management in both the UK and US to deliver the plan and manage Ugly’s customer service team.
  • Inform and deliver features, functionality, services and design that drives performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain the e-commerce plan, performance goals, strategy, and budget.
  • Manage Ugly’s growth and acquisition strategy including paid, referrals, affiliates and influencers.
  • Work alongside our Global Head of Brand to execute best-in-class content, email design, SMS and social media communication.
  • Build a best-in-class retention program for Ugly including world class CX and loyalty programing.
  • Establish framework for ongoing evaluation of e-commerce capabilities, with emphasis on improving user experience and driving conversion rates.
  • Effectively leverage social media platforms, email marketing campaigns, SMS, SEO and SEM, company blog and site content, as well as digital advertising campaigns to increase new customers, site visits, conversions and reduce CPA.
  • Lead cross-departmental e-commerce driven brand campaigns to generate online and offline sales while creating healthy awareness with an expanded percentage of the desired target demographic and engage existing customers more deeply.
  • Develop web analytics metrics for measuring key performance indicators; analyze data and conduct testing to improve conversion on site as well as via social media, blog and email marketing.
  • Develop and optimize SEO and SEM, as well as a keyword-rich content strategy.
  • Lead and manage Ugly’s Amazon strategy with our agency partners in both the UK and US to drive the plan.
  • Effectively partner with wide-reaching account partnerships to drive trial and engagement.
  • Innovate in the transactional buying cycle by improving what is working via e-mail marketing and web store development, while optimizing and developing services, products and product mix.

What you need?

  • Minimum 5+ years in an DTC/CPG company with a proven track record.
  • Passion for e-commerce and direct-to-consumer.
  • Demonstrated track record of success leading growing e-commerce businesses with budget responsibility.
  • Experience with performance marketing channels.
  • Experience working with digital and creative agencies, commissioning content for e-commerce distribution, website store management and design and media planning, Google Analytics or other web analytics platform.
  • Ability to work both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast paced environment.
  • An understanding of the latest innovations and trends in e-commerce media.
  • Passion for high growth start-ups, CPG and food and beverage.
  • Has excellent interpersonal and organisation skills with the ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders at various levels.
  • Outstanding project management and decision-making skills
  • A growth mindset with a focus on continuous testing to optimize audience, acquisition channels, conversion funnel and pricing.
  • A thorough understanding of the marketing process with proven ability to develop and implement marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to influence others in cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred experience of managing and negotiating with outside agencies; creative, ad and events.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills.
  • Loves a challenge, thrives in a hyper-growth environment and approaches problems with a can-do and positive attitude.
  • A winning mentality and burning passion for the brand and your goals.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Shopify, Klaviyo and other tools in the tech stack.
  • A team player with a great sense of fun.
