Founded in London in 2016 and then launched in the US in 2018, Ugly has built a dynamic DTC brand and is now launching nationwide across all US Retail Channels.

What is the role?

Ugly Drinks is seeking a full-time, Accounting Manager to be responsible for managing processes and systems to achieve an effective environment of financial controls and play a pivotal role in the success of our business.

Qualified candidates will be energized by the opportunity to deliver accurate timely accounting transactions and financial reporting, to establish streamlined business processes and drive continuous improvement for efficient and compliant finance infrastructure capable of scaling with rapid growth of business.

This role will directly report to Ugly’s President — US and have direct oversight of all 3rd party book keepers and financial service advisors.

Responsibility:

Responsible for accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes and the preparation of internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Preparation of annual budgets and monthly/quarterly forecasts
Collaborate with Ugly’s Operations team to managing production financing/working capital facilities
Support Ugly’s CEO with monthly investor reporting
Continually work to streamline Ugly’s processes & improve our ways-of-working
Support all company fundraising efforts through due diligence projects and reporting
Payroll processing — twice a month US, once a month UK
Preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for the monthly close processes
Calculation and recording of interest on convertible loans
Maintaining fixed assets register and recording of depreciation
Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliation
Manage reconciliation of chargebacks and recording accruals
Process vendor payments weekly/monthly
Manging cash flow efficiently and vendor communication
Organize sales tax and bottle deposits reporting
Prepare financial information for tax accountants to complete tax returns
Manage insurance and COI requests for UK and US

What you need?

BA/BS in Accounting and/or Finance from an accredited four-year university; MBA highly desirable
Passion for high growth start-ups
Minimum 5+ years in an accounting/finance role with demonstrable career advancement
Proficient in budgeting, forecasting and planning
Experience working with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office
Comfortable managing external bookkeepers and consultants
Knowledge of US accounting policies is required, knowledge of UK is highly desirable
CPG industry experience is required with a firm understanding of chargeback management. Beverage industry experience preferable but not essential
